The Beauty of Morning Pages

As of last month, it had been a year since I started The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron. I completed the book within the assigned 12 weeks time. One of the ongoing tasks that impacted me the most were the "Morning Pages." 3 pages of writing whatever came to my mind, or any thought I needed to put out somewhere. I had never been into journaling before I had given this a try. I didn't have to worry about owning a pretty book or learn those aesthetic journaling structures. That wasn't the purpose of the task. I only used my dollar store pens and notebooks throughout the course. It was enough to get me motivated to start.

It was only fairly recently that I decided to get back into the habit of doing these pages again. There is something comforting and relieving about putting thoughts in a private place. I'm able to release emotions through words on my own terms. Every morning before I start my day, I'm going to grab my notebook and fill every line bit by bit. It's been a pleasure to have Bear for my more public writing, but it's also nice to curate a space that will be for my eyes only again. Not everything has to be shared.

And that is the beauty of the Morning Pages.
