The Beginning Of A Blogging Hobby
“Don’t wait until you know who you are to get started.” - Steal Like An Artist, by Austin Kleon.
After reading some motivational books, I have been trying to get out of my shell more often. Starting a blog was a tip in one of my recent reads. So here I am, an introvert with a blog.
I found out about Bear a while ago and thought I should give it a try. The algorithmic approach to modern social media and short form content has really changed the internet. Even if I haven’t posted anywhere myself in years, just consuming it all as a viewer can get uninteresting or overwhelming.
I just want to create and enjoy the slow process of making art. Right now, I’m a hobbyist artist trying to figure out if I should put my work out there more. So expect an occasional art post? Maybe? (I’m not making any promises…yet). When I’m not drawing, I watch movies and shows, play video games, spend time outdoors, or do some journaling.
My goal here will be to create a written record of my life experiences. Not merely posting for the likes/attention. There will be no fake online persona here, only my authentic self. Which is why I decided to title this blog, “Genuine Journal.” I’m glad I’ll have a space where I can express myself freely. I have never done traditional blogging before. Social media is all I’ve known, I’m not exactly sure if that’s a good thing.
I’m excited and admittedly a little nervous about posting somewhere publicly again. Let’s see how it goes.
